Fleet Assistant

 

Independent is seeking a Fleet Assistant to assist in the daily operations of a busy shop. This position is responsible for fleet management support, records management, DOT compliance, and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate is someone who is organized and possesses strong time management skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Maintain fleet service records
  • Maintain vehicle tracking log
  • Maintain records of issued equipment to employees and time keeping
  • DMV records management
  • Stay informed of Federal, state, and local ordinance of all compliance in regards to Fleet Management.
  • Insurance claim support
  • Copying, filing, tracking, & sorting shop office documents
  • Prepare and maintain correspondence and company reports
  • Maintain current filing system
  • Data Entry
  • Driving (picking up and/or delivering parts, employees, errands)
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of fleet management preferred
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local agencies compliance (DOT, DMV, Air Resource Board) is a plus!
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • General math skills
  • Strong computer skills, primarily in Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize within time constraints
  • Ability to work independently under limited supervision and in a team environment
  • Ability to interact with employees, customers and vendors in a professional manner
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills

Required:

  • Valid & Current CA Driver’s License & Clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Must be 21 years of age (company auto insurance requirement)
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Additional Information

  • This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule.
  • Company conducts post-offer, pre-employment drug screening and motor vehicle report.
  • Physical requirements include the following:
    • There may be moderate physical work in the handling of supplies, files, and driving.
    • Most of the employee’s working hours are spent in a construction shop office environment
    • Ability to sit for long periods of time, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grasp, write, and perform repetitive motions.
    • Exerts up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects with the human body. (such as boxes and files)
  • Hearing and speaking ability sufficient to carry on a conversation with another individual (or groups of individuals) in person and over the telephone.
  • Visual ability sufficient to read and produce printed material and information displayed on a computer screen. Visual ability sufficient to read and comprehend traffic signs, signals and safety warnings and precautions

 

Compensation:

$19-$24 hourly DOE
